lightning is a flash or strike of very bright and
hot light in the sky, caused by imbalances storm clouds and the ground, or
within the cloud themselves during a thunder storm.
Types
Lightning can occur in different ways.
Within a cloud (intra-cloud lightning or I C),
Between two cloud (cloud-cloud lightning or C C),
Also between cloud and ground (cloud-ground
lightning C G).
Lightning is called a strike when it hits an
object and a flash when it occurs within a cloud.

lightning bolt heats the air around it so quickly (within a few millionths of a
second) and to such a high temperature (about 10,000° C, or about 18,000° F)
that the air molecules are pushed apart with great force, much like in an
explosion. A wave of compressed air (a sound wave) moves out from the lightning
bolt.
